Can we sit together? I ask the sky
You and I, as we watch the rain
pounding the earth
sprouting streams and puddles
of small waters holding meetings of love
shall we not sit together?
you and I and listen to the murmur of the wind
the cries of the birds swishing past to dry themselves
perhaps then you could hear me too and what my heart says
but then as you would have known by now
what my heart says and what my words speak and eyes cry out
are all entirely different, each a song of its own, still it would be nice
to have you sit by and watch the rain gods dance
while you take a break and come and sit by my side
so, what about it?
And the sky was quiet.
